Beach

The holiday residence La Margarita is located on the Costa Dorada, in L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, a village about an hour’s ride to the south of the lively cultural metropolis Barcelona. L’Hospitalet de l’Infant  (approx. 5400 inhabitants) enjoys all the amenities of a fully developed tourist center but fortunately is not crowded by mass tourism (no large hotels). The landscape has been preserved in its genuine natural state and is characterized by a unique combination of sea and mountains, with a luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation (palm trees, pine trees, bougainvilleas, oleander etc.). Long, sandy beaches alternate with cozy little bays, against a backdrop of imposing rocky mountains. The warm colors of the earth and of the rocks, the bright colors of the diverse vegetation combine with the turquois of the sea to form a magic picture for your perfect holiday. In this varied countryside a wide choice of outdoor activities awaits you, ranging from all kinds of water sports to hiking or biking in the mountains. Thanks to its mild climate L’Hospitalet is suitable for holidays not only in the summer but also during spring or autumn, when hiking and biking in the countryside is particularly inviting.

The coast line consists of virtually untouched beaches (12 km), with long, sandy strips alternating with small bays The beaches are never crowded, not even during the main season. Access to the beach is free. The beaches are clean, with fine white sand and crystal-clear water. The flat seashore, gently sloping into shallow water, is safe for bathing with small children. The high quality of the beaches is certified by the the European Blue Flag, the quality seal awarded for the cleanliness of sand and water, the overall safety of the beach, and for its ecological management.
 

Hiking trails on the mountains and along the sea invite you to explore the region’s natural and cultural riches. Beside some world-famous excursion sites nearby, you may discover some real treasures off the beaten track. The diversified countryside and the rich artistic and cultural heritage of the environs make L’Hospitalet a holiday destination suited for vacations in spring and autumn as well.

L’Hospitalet itself also offers a wide array of leisure activities thanks for a fully developed tourism infrastructure. Discover the tastes and fragrances of local cuisine and wine in one of the many high quality restaurants at very affordable prices. Alternatively, if you prefer to cook your own meals at your bungalow with all the fresh ingredients of the Mediterranean you will find everything you need in nearby supermarkets and small shops. Should you need medical care, assistance is available in English, German and French.
 
 
L´Hospitalet enjoys a very pleasant Mediterranean climate. Due to the particular wind situation the climate is dry and never oppressively hot in the summer. Bathing season starts in June and lasts until the end of October (water temperatures in October still over 20º C). On the other hand in the cooler part of the year the dry and sunny weather is ideally suited for all kinds of outdoor activities, including hiking and mountain biking.
